Suddenly, Zoe came into his room, interrupting his wish. "Zoe," said Jon in surprise. The stone flashed. Jon, not yet realizing what had just happened, asked, "What are you doing in here?"
"What kind of question is that?" snapped Zoe. "I was just in here a moment ago before I went to the bathroom. I was about to ask you if you were still interested in going on a date again this Friday. But if you're going to behave like that, why bother?"
Suddenly Jon realized what had happened. When he said his sister's name, it inadvertently completed the wish and made Zoe his girlfriend. He took a good look at her. She was still a Goth, but beneath her makeup was a subtly different face. Jon and Zoe had shared a lot of features. They didn't anymore. She was no longer his sister.
Jon needed to calm her down. "I don't know what came over me."
Zoe was puzzled. He seemed to mean what he was saying, even though it made no sense. Mom warned me about Jon, she thought. I never understood what she had against him -- it's not as if she's happy about me going Goth, and you'd think that she'd be for a normal guy like him, but no. Maybe her instincts were right ...
"I didn't expect you back so ... soon," said Jon. "I, uh ..." There was no point in making up a story. Jon would be in trouble no matter what he said. He showed her the stone. "S-see this? I used it to m-make you my ... g-girlfriend ... by accident."
"You WHAT!? Why are you wasting my time with this rubbish!?" A change in genes didn't wipe out Zoe's capacity for hostility toward Jon.
"You used to be my ... my ..."
Zoe clenched her teeth, shut her eyes, and shook her head. "Oh, just finish your silly story already."
"My sister," blurted Jon.
"THAT'S DISGUSTING!!" Zoe lunged at Jon and grabbed the stone away from him. "That does it! I wish you ..."
