As they stepped outside, they were immediately inundated with shouts from a crowd of people who had gathered to meet the exiting students.

"Hey, girl! You with the dark hair!" One man yelled to Jon. "Wanna be a model? My company, True Styles, is looking for someone just like you, and they would love-"

A woman shouted over him. "Hi, would you like to be on TV? I'm out to start a new reality show featuring a group of students from your school! It's gonna be called-"

"Hello, miss, I'm a reporter from TeenGlam Magazine! And I'd like to interview you about-"

"Wanna be a star?"

"Wanna pose for a picture?"

"Wanna be my date?"

The frantic calls for their attention gave Jon an instant headache. "What's going on here?" He practically screamed in order for Karyn to hear him.

Keeping her eyes on their destination, Karyn answered without slowing her stride. "This is the downside of going to a school that has one of the highest concentrations of sexy rich girls in the nation. Everyone leaving campus gets swamped by paparazzi, recruiters, reporters, and Romeos. There's even some protest groups insisting that, somehow, the administration must discriminate against 'normal' girls. Fortunately, by law they can't actually block our path or get within twenty feet of us, but it's a hassle. Now, c'mon."

Grabbing Jon's hand, Karyn raced the rest of the way to her car. When the doors had closed and the lock clicked into place, Karyn leaned back and sighed. Thankfully, the crowd had already moved on to other students currently emerging from the school.

"What a pain. When we get that stone, that's the first thing I want to fix," the blonde muttered.

"When we get to that bridge, Karyn, we'll work something out," Jon replied, forcing a smile to lighten the mood. "Let's go."
