Noticing Jon's approach, Karyn greeted, "Hey Jen, notice any changes to reality yet?"
"Like you wouldn't believe," said Jon, almost twisting an ankle in his heels. "Well, maybe you would. Actually, just a moment ago, I was a guy. And my name was Jon."
The blonde gave him a look. "Ha ha, very funny. C'mon, Jen, be serious."
"I'm being perfectly serious," insisted Jon, letting her see the sincerity in his eyes. "I'm supposed to be a guy."
Karyn blinked. "You? A guy? But I don't remember that. To me, you've always been Jen, my best gal-pal in the world. Don't tell me we're not actually friends either!"
Jon sat on the wall next to Karyn, grimacing at his footwear. "No, that's real. We were best friends. Grew up together, did everything together, you know, that sort of thing."
"Oh good," Karyn said with a relief that warmed Jon's heart a little. Then, she wrinkled her nose. "So my best friend was a guy? Somehow, that just sounds wrong. I mean, what kinda things would we do together?"
"Just normal stuff. To tell you the truth, you were a bit of a tomboy. You wouldn't have been caught dead wearing what you've got on right now."
"Really?" Karyn inspected her outfit critically. "Hm, a shame really. I look pretty hot in this."
This made Jon smile. "No argument here."
"You're looking pretty hot yourself, Jen. That skirt is so cute, and pink is definitely your color."
Her compliment, as intended, made Jon wince. Karyn giggled. "Gotcha. I just wanted to see how you'd react."
Checking the time, Karyn shouldered her backpack and started walking to class, Jon close to her side. "Hey, I just realized something. If you were a guy, then how is it you go to this school?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, Lake Point is an all-girl's school, you know. No male students. In fact, there aren't even male teachers."
Jon spun around, finally noting the lack of male population. "An all-girl's school!?" Gritting his teeth, he swore under his breath. "It's worse than I thought. I just assumed that the changes were only in myself and the girls."
"Let me guess. This wasn't a girl's school."
"Nope. And most of the girls that were here didn't look like models either."
"So besides you, there are other girls I know who are actually guys? This just gets weirder and weirder."
"Tell me about it," agreed Jon. "But the good thing is that this might help us locate the stone. Judging by the changes, we can probably figure out who's using it, hopefully before they make any more drastic wishes."
"I see." Karyn turned thoughtful. "So, who would wish this to be an all-girl's school filled with sexy girls? It sounds like-"
"Something a guy would wish for," finished Jon. "That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure some of the girls would wish this, too, but it's more likely to be a guy."
"But there aren't any guys here. One would assume that the guy would want to exclude himself from his wish."
"True. Except he might've accidentally gotten himself changed along with everyone else. It could happen. Or maybe the culprit is a girl after all." Jon sighed. "It just figures. I guess it would've been too easy to just spot the only guy in a school full of girls."
