Jon had expected his grandfather to appear out of thin air. It didn't happen, however. Instead, he suddenly felt dizzy, as the world faded away around him.
From Karyn's point-of-view, Jon had disappeared completely, taking the stone with him ... to wherever he went.
When Jon regained his balance, he realized that he was no longer in his bedroom, although the place he found himself in looked kind of familiar.
"Who are you?" Jon heard a voice ask. He recognized it. It belonged to his grandfather.
He excitedly turned around. "Grandpa?"
