"Oh gross!"
Karyn and the newly transformed Jon turned quickly to look at the bottom of the stairs. Jon's younger sister, Zoe, was standing there with a disgusted look.
"My sister is a fucking dyke? Eww eww eww!" she yelled.
"Shut up!"
"I knew you were a queer, Karyn, but I didn't think Jen was. Eww! Wait 'til I tell mom!"
"Don't you dare say anything to mom!" Jen's voice waivered with fear.
"Or what? What are you going to do, sick your dyke girlfriend on me?"
Karyn was in shock. Partially because Jon, er, Jen! She knew Jen's name at least! Er, partially because Jen's sister caught them coming out to each other, and partially because Zoe was being so rude and using such harsh words!
Jen yelled back at her sister, "Yeah, she is my girlfriend, but don't call her a dyke!"
"Whatever. I'm going to school. Anyway, your secret is safe with me."
"It is?" Jen looked hard at Zoe and Zoe just shrugged.
"For now anyway. I promise I won't tell anyone today. But you and me hafta have a little chat after school... some things are gonna change, believe me!"
Jen turned and looked at Karyn, but Karyn didn't know what to do. And then Jen gave her a wink and turned back to Zoe.
"Ok, I'll hold you to that promise! If you tell anyone at all what you saw just now, I'll make your life a living hell."
Karyn knew Jen wasn't making an empty threat because they had the stone. Zoe didn't look bothered at all.
Menacingly she said, "We'll see," and then hefted her bookbag onto her shoulder and walked out the front door.
