As the dizziness subsided, Jon began to hear a growing roar that sounded like a huge crowd. When he looked up, he saw why. He was standing in an enormous stadium packed with fans waving flags and chanting. And Jon was on the field!
"This is more like it," Jon said as he saw that he was in the middle of a soccer game. Before he had time to think any further, the ball was coming his way. Jon trapped the ball and quickly passed it off to an orange-shirted teammate when the crowd began to boo and whistle.
As the other players took off down the field, Jon looked down at himself and realized his mistake. He was wearing a white jersey! "Oh shit," Jon said. He had just passed the ball to the wrong team. Jon began to give chase up the field and gave a sigh of relief when the striker kicked the ball wide of the goal, setting up a goal kick for his side.
Jon used the stoppage in play to look around and figure out where - and who - he was. He spotted a scoreboard in the stadium - Spain 1, Ivory Coast 1...it looked like the second half had just started. Looking down at his kit, it was clear which side he was on. "Wow, I'm a Spanish soccer player," Jon said, not even aware that he was speaking perfect Spanish.
He barely had a chance to look over his athletic frame before the ball was back in play and Jon was sprinting up the field once again. Before long, Jon was exhausted. It was a chilly night, but sweat was pouring down his body, yet Jon was amazed that he still had the endurance to continue.
Jon was a striker and had a few chances at the goal, but couldn't get anything past the African keeper. There were ten minutes left in the game when Jon got a perfect pass from his teammate and booted the ball with all his might, sending a perfect shot sailing around the goalie, square into the back of the net.
The crowd erupted and Jon was ecstatic. "I just scored a goal!" he yelled, it felt amazing! His teammates were beginning to mob him and Jon ran up and jumped into one of the Spaniard's arms.
