When they could see again, Jon and Karyn found themselves in a room of the whitest white. Before them stood the man from Jon's computer, Arthur.

"Welcome," he said. "Please, we have much to discuss and only a little time to do so."

"Okay," Jon replied. "For starters, where in the world are we?"

"Nowhere."

"What?" Jon and Karyn said.

"Nowhere...you could call it a pocket dimension of sorts. All dimensions overlap and we exist right now in that place of overlap. That's why everything's so white."

"Ah, it's like a prism," Karyn said.

"Correct, because this is a place where all possibilities exist it's essentially like having no possibilities at all."

"So, what did my wish do?" Jon asked.

"Well, as I said earlier, you released an interdimensional being into your reality, one who has the power to unleash chaos on your world. The last time she was freed she engulfed several nations in a war that all but destroyed them."

"So...who is she and what does she want?" Karyn asked.

"Well, who is a relative question...she is effectively immortal by your standards of life so she's been known by several names throughout her history with your world. You would probably know her best as Eris."

"Eris?" Karyn said.

Jon thought for a moment, "Eris? Wait, not the Eris from the story of the golden apple?"

"One and the same," Arthur said.

Jon turned to Karyn, his face grim. "I screwed up...we're in big trouble."

"I don't get it? Who is this Eris?" Karyn asked.

"She started the Trojan War," Jon said.

"The one with the wooden horse?" Karyn said. "I thought that happened because a prince kidnapped another king's queen or something."

"Well, sort of," Jon said. "Paris, the prince of Troy, did kidnap Helen, but he was allowed to do so after gaining the favor of Aphrodite, goddess of love. Shortly before all of this happened, Zeus had called a meeting of the Greek gods. Eris, the goddess of discord, upset at not being included, sent a golden apple into the meeting. 'For the most beautiful' was carved into the apple. Aphrodite, Athena, and Artemis, I think, all laid claim to the apple. The only thing they could agree on was that Paris was the most beautiful man around so he was chosen to break the tie. Each offered him great rewards to choose them but he chose Aphrodite because she promised him he could have any woman in the world he wanted and he had recently fallen in love with the Greek queen Helen. Aphrodite allowed him to kidnap Helen and that started the war."

"More or less spot on, Jon," Arthur said. "Eris did that just to see what would happen. She doesn't care about the consequences of her decisions, only that there are consequences. She revels in the aftermath no matter how tragic...and now she's free once again."
