"I want you to let me use it occasionally," Jon said.
"Is that all?" his grandfather asked.
"Yeah. I just ... the stone ..."
"You don't have to explain, Jon. I understand. Something as powerful as the stone is hard to let go of. But don't worry. I already intended on letting you use it now and then anyway. It's just that right now, I need it. It's rather important actually. You see, there are some people after me. Or after the stone, really. And now that I'm back, they will undoubtedly be after me again. I can't stick around here, endangering my family. So you probably won't see me for awhile. But rest assured, once I've dealt with the situation, I'll be back here in a flash. I promise. You'll just have to be patient." Jon's grandfather then muttered something to himself, causing the stone to glow. Before Jon was able to ask him what he wished for, though, his grandfather disappeared. To where? Who knew?
It seemed that for the indeterminate future, Jon was going to be without the wishing stone. But in the meantime, he could still have some "magical hijinks" with Santa Karyn.
