Mikey looked up. "Hi, Daddy," he said. "Did I just call dad daddy?" Mikey thought to himself
"Don't Hi, Daddy me...you haven't been home since yesterday. You haven't called...I'm seriously thinking of grounding you."
Mikey was shocked at his father's outburst. In fact he was a little upset.
"I'm sorry daddy" Mikey said sniffling and wiping tears away while trying not to smudge his makeup.
"It happened so fast" Mikey explained. "Biff took me out on a date last night and then I stopped the night." Mikey paused as his father nodded. "And then Melissa called me in the morning saying that Sarah had quit and asked if I could replace her."
"I'm sorry, Sarah who?" Linda asked.
"Sarah McMillan" Melissa explained. "She's the head cheerleader. Or rather was before she quit this morning"
Linda nodded. She sort of understood and she could see why they wanted Mikey to replace Sarah. From what she had seen so far he was a natural.
"OK" she said. "Next time call us before you head off to do something. Your mother was worried"
"OK daddy" Mikey replied.
"I'll see you by the car after the game" Linda said. Mikey nodded and turned back to his friends.
Linda watched for a moment as Mikey gossiped away with his friends. She then sighed and headed back to Karyn and Jon.
