After waiting, and waiting, Jon went to bed. He brushed the wish off as a fluke, but it still nagged in the back of his mind as he slept. Sleep that was cut short by a loud beeping outside his window, followed by angry shouting.
Jon stumbled over to his window and peeked out the blinds to see a huge moving truck out on the street, trying to back into the driveway of the house next door. Jon's dad was on the sidewalk, screaming at the driver.
"You idiots almost hit my car! What the hell are you doing?! Who the hell let you people into this neighborhood!?"
You people? That didn't sound good. He went downstairs to investigate. His mother was on the lawn, trying to calm down her husband. A group of 7 guys were on the lawn next door, carrying various boxes.
"Roger, take it easy. We need to be good neighbors."
"Good neighbors? Tell it to these clowns!"
"Woah, take it easy dude," one of the guys said. "Just because our frat got kicked out of campus doesn't mean we're bad guys. We'll prove it to you!"
"Yeah!" said another. "Everyone loves our parties!"
Wait a second. Frat? Parties? Jon took another look at the house. It still looked like the house they'd always lived next to, but was somehow much larger. Not only that, but three large, Greek letters hung proudly on the front.
"You kids better not try anything. I'll be watching you like a hawk!"
"Sure old man," another frat guy said. Jon noticed a look in his eyes, something he couldn't quite discern.
"Come on honey, let's go inside," Linda grabbed her husbands arm and led him in. Jon followed, and inside he saw Zoe looking out the window, staring at a pair of guys who'd started throwing a football back and forth.
"Maybe it won't be so bad after all," she said. Their dad sighed and left the room. Jon tried to think about what was going on. His wish had turned the house next door into a frat house? That sounded like a setup to a bad movie, but he figured it could be worse. But something seemed a little weird about those guys, and since when was Zoe into jocks?
