Disgruntled, they followed the men and got into a black people carrier which took them to a strange lab on the edge of town.
"Hey," said Trevor, "I know this place; my dad was complaining about a rival tech company setting up shop and this is it!"
"Doesn't your dad do secret government work?" asked Karyn as they were driven into the underground parking complex.
Trevor nodded, "And these guys pinched some the government contracts."
Before he could say any more, the car pulled to a stop and they were ushered out and led into the building. They followed their guide in silence and he took them into a changing room. With a shrug they all picked a cubical and changed into the white gowns provided. They were then lead into the lab where a white coated technician directed them to sit in some chairs arranged in a circle around a mechanical pillar. Nervously, they sat, glancing up at the odd looking metalwork helmet like things hanging above each seat.
"Please look forward and remain still," said the tech, hurrying behind a screen. They did as complied and waited as the tech returned with some others. The techs pulled the headgear down, placing them on their heads and securing them. Once they were all secured the techs retreated behind the screen again and the pillar behind them hummed to life. The humming increased in pitch to a whine and then suddenly each of them felt a spike of pain in the top of their heads and as one blacked out.
