With a shrug they followed the men outside to a black SUV and got in. They sat in silence as they were driven to a lab just outside of town.
"Hey," said Biff, "I recognise this place. My dad told me about it - the army have some sort of training programme here where they mess with the soldiers' minds to make them better."
"I'm not having my mind messed with!" Protested Sarah, clutching his arm as the car entered the basement parking complex.
"Don't think we have much choice," winced Karyn, as the car pulled to a stop next to a group of more men in black. They got out apprehensively and were lead by two of the suits to an elevator and escorted up to a lab. There was a row of chairs with helmet like things hanging over them like those hair dryers in a salon and a bank of computers which took up an entire wall.
"Please take a seat," smiled a man in a white lab coat. Begrudgingly they complied. "This won't hurt a bit," he told them as he lowered the helmets into place and secured them on their heads, "Just sit there and it'll be over shortly. He hurried over to the computer and started fiddling with the controls. Jon winced as his brain started to tingle and itch.
"That's normal," called out the scientist, not looking up from his computer, "Only an hour left. But don't worry, I'm inducing a sleep state in five...four...three...two...one!" There was a loud crackle and as one they all fell asleep.
After what felt like a second, Jon jolted awake and was surprised to see the scientist leaning over him, removing the helmet.
"Don't worry," the man smiled, "Everything went perfectly. Can you tell me your name and gender?"
"Jennifer," Jon replied, swallowing "And I'm a girl."
