As Karyn stood by understanding more and more of what was transpiring before her, the urge to help her friend, Jenny (or Jon? she was having trouble keeping it straight on her own head), and her partner, Gary (She was sure she needed to help Gary, but was less and less sure of what that meant) grew.
“So many apparent contradictions, but the wishes are working—something’s not adding up,” Karyn thought.
Jenny-Jon and Gary’s loving caresses had devolved into some fairly lewd groping when they were stunned by a flash of light from the stone. Karyn, having grabbed it while her friend and partner were lost in each other’s mutual doe-eyes, intoned, “The problem is that you two weren’t specific enough. There must be a solution. If only I could figure it out.…I WISH I HAD WHAT I NEEDED TO HELP YOU.”
With this, Jon & Gary’s revulsion returned, arresting their foreplay as surely as having been doused in ice water.
“I don’t understand how that worked, but thank you. It’s been far to easy to make a mistake with that rock. I think I want to be as far away from here as possible. You understand,” Gary excused himself.
Stunned and still disgusted with himself, Jon stared at Karyn. “But…how?”
Karyn, having sufficiently fulfilled the undefined terms of her “partnership” with Gary, thought it wise to call it a night. “Let’s just get you home, Jon.”
