Nothing appeared to happen. With a sigh Jon went about the rest of his day as normal before turning in for the night. When he awoke the next morning, he quickly checked himself over worried that some changes had occurred in the night, but to his relief everything was normal (or seemed it he corrected himself - would he actually know if changes had been made?). He was on edge all morning as he got ready for school and all the way to school. Halfway there he met Karyn and told her all about the wish.

"Hmm," she replied "Maybe it has something to do with that special assembly that's been called at school today?"

"What special assembly?" He asked, confused.

"You know, the one announced yesterday after last class?"

Jon shook his head "First I've heard about it."

"That must be it then," winced Karyn, "Not like you to not pay attention."

They walked the rest of the way in silence and when they got to school headed straight to the auditorium to get some good seats. They chatted quietly debating what was going to happen as the rest of the school filed in over time until it was nine o'clock and the teachers closed the doors. They waited in silent anticipation as the principal approached the podium.

"Good morning students," he smiled, leaning on the podium, "I bet you're all wondering why we've called this special assembly. Well I'm glad to announce our school has been selected to join in a special social experiment." Karyn and Jon glanced at each other curiously, wondering where this was going, and becoming more and more cirtain this was the wish in action. The principal cleared his throat "I should clarify. What I mean to say is that five of our students chosen at random will be participating. Don't worry, all your parents have already signed off on this. I'm afraid I can't divulge any more information at this point - the chosen five will be informed after selection."

There was an outburst as all the students shouted objections, tried to ask questions or merely started talking amongst themselves. The principal ignored it, walking over to a large computer like machine on one side of the stage and typed in some instructions. It whirred and clinked and spat out five pieces of paper which he gathered up and took back to the podium. Motioning for silence he read out the first name.
