Sir Garrett spent many days and nights in the darkest dungeon of the castle. In his pitch black cell Sir Garrett could barely tell how many days had passed had there not been a small crack in the ceiling where for a few minutes a day, there would be a slight sliver of light that shone through. This small symbolic gesture was one of the few things that gave him hope. He had been betrayed by his kingdom, his order would not be able to help him, and worst of all his beloved Fina was potentially facing a similar punishment. But Sir Garrett did not give up hope, every day through prayer and meditation he kept his solace and sanity. If he was to ever be let out, he could not let himself be broken mentally.
After what Sir Garrett estimated was about 3 months of imprisonment the guards came not with his usual meal of gruel, but a notice. "You're imprisonment may be over soon kidnapper, but if I were you I'd just die in that cell now. It'll be easier." Sir Garrett did not dignify the guard, who he recognized as one of Captain Burgos' men, with a response. He silently got up and marched.
Sir Garrett was taken to the thrown room where he let out a sigh of relief as he saw at King Emeril's side was Princess Fina who, although she looked depressed, did not seem to be hurt. Captain Burgos himself approached Sir Garrett and forced him to his knees. "Bow kidnapper."
"Sir Garrett, you have much to be thankful for. For although you dared to kidnap my daughter, she is not without mercy. She has begged me to spare you life and I have decided to do so. She then begged me to not banish you from this kingdom for the rest of her days. She has even given up many of her freedoms to do so. So you should be grateful." Sir Garrett looked to concern to his beloved who averted her eyes, she seemed to be holding back tears. Sir Garrett had to steady himself, he could forgive his name being slandered but to speak so unkindly of Fina angered Sir Garrett.
"So your punishment has been decided, you will not spend the rest of your life in a cell, but you will never be free again. I have ensured that your order of the silver griffin has heard of your evil deeds and you have been banished from their ranks." This felt like a knife to Sir, no, he was no longer Sir Garrett. Garrett felt hurt at being abandoned, but knew it was not the orders fault, the deceitful words of the King and Captain Burgos carried enough weight to carry through the most obvious lie.
"So Garrett, for the rest of your days you will be put into servitude for the good of the kingdom," King Emeril did not his a snide smile as he said this, "From this day forth you will become..."
