The person who received the opportunity to make ten wishes was Fred Orr, the cousin of Sarah McMillan. And like Sarah, he was mean too.
Fred Orr was in the same grade as Jon's little brother Mikey and attended the same elementary school. He was a bully, plain and simple. And he liked being a bully.
Maybe it seemed a cruel fate to give such a person ten wishes, but the stone didn't see people as good or evil. It reached out and touched a person who could make wishes and that person just happened to be Fred.
Right now, Fred was at home, begrudgingly doing his homework. He would rather be out with his friends stirring up trouble. But his parents insisted that he needed to finish his homework before doing anything with his friends.
"Stupid parents," he muttered to himself. He grunted, then said "I wish ..."
