Soon the invaders were building their main base up. They'd mostly been using a defensive strategy so far, at least until they could afford to start taking risks. They'd need to get a Land Raider or two deployed, maybe even a Daemon Prince to lead the crusade. Ekaiddon knew he had to keep the authorities from finding out about their presence for as long as possible. Even though he was strong enough to single handedly destroy a tank, and the forces in his command were also powerful, there would be a lot more than one tank when the army came after them. So far, they weren't doing too great with keeping a low profile. A police officer had come by, and his chosen shot him, and his body now lay in a pool of its own blood, but it was only a matter of time before others would come looking for him. By the next day, there would most likely be a serious attack on their base.

There were now two more Astartes squads guarding the base, as well as the handful of local cultists led by Archon. Now, Ekaiddon judged, would be a good time to call in his sorcerer. He walked in through the portal, and nodded a greeting to his lord, wearing a different kind of armor with a robe over it. "Welcome to-" Ekaiddon began.

"Holy Terra, yes I know. Don't forget I'm a psyker after all" the sorcerer reminded him. Before the Chaos lord could answer, his sorcerer held his head, and grunted in pain. When Ekaiddon asked him what was wrong, more out of curiosity than actual concern, he answered," I sense a very powerful artifact of Tzeentch not far from here. It's extremely dangerous, but if you were to obtain it, you'd be all but unstoppable, and surely complete your ascension faster,"

"A powerful Chaos artifact? That would certainly turn the tide in my favor " he mused.

"Yes, even more so than you imagine," the sorcerer answered. ", and I know of the perfect group of individuals we can use to retrieve it for us," he said, as more supersoldiers came from the portal. These had a fiery blood red, and carried axes along with pistols.

"Send us into the slaughter!" one of them, who appeared to be a champion, demanded.

"Let me guide you, I know of the way," the sorcerer offered, leading the squad forth.

"Wait!" Ekaiddon called out before his sorcerer left on his mission. "Sorcerer, tell me, what do the Gods show you of this battle's future?"

"Good tidings my lord," he answered. "It seems we shall soon be finding aid from an unexpected quarter," he said with relish. What he actually meant by this was that throughout the surrounding area (which was coincidentally the stone's range), certain churches would begin to preach that the final battle of Armageddon is starting, and encourage their congregations to arm themselves, and assist the "Army from Heaven" in their vicious campaign. Some non-Christian religious groups also intended to join them for their own reasons. Ekaiddon would soon come to realize he underestimated the size of his own army.

Meanwhile, Jon was woken from his light sleep by the sounds of chainsaws, people screaming in pain or fear, and insane gibbering.
