Amy Spencer had run away from home. Being 14 years old, she figured that she was old enough to be able to survive by herself. Her parents were the rich snobbish types. They had her whole life planned out for her. She was supposed to be a doctor. Yeah? Well, she didn't want to be a doctor. She wanted to do what she wanted to do. Well, they weren't having that. They promptly grounded her, forbidding her to see any of her friends (which weren't many, by the way), then said that they'd let her go out again when she came to her senses and did the right thing. Yeah? Well, she did the right thing alright. She got the hell outta there. Amy waited until her parents went out to one of their high society parties, then she bolted. They wouldn't even notice that she was gone until later that night, maybe even the next morning. Assholes.
She was walking down State Route 28, the only "highway" to pass through Lake Point, when suddenly, she saw the most unbelievable and somewhat terrifying thing. It was a ball of light floating above the ground in the distance. Then it began to zoom across the countryside, over the fields, through the forests and towards her.
Her eyes wide, she started to run back towards town, hoping to flag someone down for help. But she was way out of town by now and being late at night as it was, there wasn't too much traffic.
Behind her, she heard trees falling over and crashing to the ground. She wasn't imagining that ball of light. It was actually there. And it was getting closer.
She looked over her shoulder and saw a car's headlights in the distance. The car was heading towards Lake Point. Adjusting her backpack over her shoulder, she waved for the car, trying to get the driver's attention.
Then it happened. The ball of light had caught up with her. One moment, she was panicked, trying to get help ... then the next, she felt calm.
It was inside her body now. But what exactly was it doing to her?
