Looking around the room, Laura deduced that she was in some sort of a changing room, like one backstage. But backstage where?
"Laura, you're on in three. Get yourself ready," a man's voice said.
She turned and saw a stocky-looking man in a sleazy outfit ... lots of jewelry around his neck and on his wrists. And was that a gold tooth she saw?
"Hey," he snapped. "You better get your ass out there right now or you're fired."
"Come on, Larry. Don't do that. I need this job," she said. Wait, how did she know this man's name? She was sure that she had never seen him before. But ... he did look familiar, for some reason.
"Then get out there," he said, pointing down the hall.
Laura didn't know what was going on or where she was or what this man wanted her to do "out there", but she figured that if she wanted to get out of there, maybe heading down the hall would take her to an exit and she could get back home.
But as she left the room and headed down the hall, she saw that there was no exit, only an entrance onto a stage. She heard a lot of voices, mostly men's voices. Where was she?
The last thing she remembered before coming here was herself in bed, reading her Bible. It was something she did before going to sleep each night. She was in the middle of reading a passage when suddenly this bolt of electricity leaped from her nightstand lamp and struck her, knocking her unconscious. The next thing she knew, she was sitting in front of one of those vanity mirrors in the changing room, wearing completely different clothes. Clothes that she wouldn't wear in a million years.
She listened to the crowd of people. The changing room, a crowd of people, this strange outfit she was wearing, "on in five, on in three". Laura came to the conclusion that she was some sort of an actress in a theater drama. It was the only explanation she could think of that made sense.
Wow, was she in for a shock.
Suddenly, loud thumping music began playing over the speakers and Laura found herself strutting out onto the stage and out into the auditorium. Except ... it wasn't an auditorium. It was a large room, but it looked more like ... like a dining hall? There were tables everywhere, with men sitting around them. Some men were standing up and cheering. What was this?
Then she spotted what looked like a metal pole standing straight up from floor to ceiling. This wasn't a theater. This was ... oh god! It was one of those filthy places that she never ever wanted to find herself in. It was a strip club! And she was on stage! That meant that she was ... oh god! She was a stripper?!
