Linda reached up and grabbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on. She had gotten a few already that morning, but she just figured that it was the usual stress that she got from dealing with her family ... especially her daughter Zoe.
After Jon, Zoe, and then Mikey all left for school, Linda left the house and headed to work. On the way there, though, she realized that she needed to go buy something at the mall before she headed into the law office, where she worked as a receptionist.
As she walked into the mall, however, she got hit with the monster of headaches and then couldn't remember why she was there ... or even where there was.
In fact, she couldn't even remember who she was.
Linda stood there, unthinking, in the crowded mall as people passed by without noticing her. Her expression told nothing of her mental state, since there was nothing to tell. She was a sponge, a blank slate, waiting for something, anything, to be put into her mind. Unfortunately for her, a crowded mall was fertile ground for idle talk.
