Sitha enjoyed combat and he had little doubt he could take out this small band of warriors if he struck hard and fast. The sight of the outpost told him he had made the right choice because it was in poor condition as he approached. Workers tried to patch holes in the walls as others removed rotten wood from the walls. It wouldn’t take long for them to repair the defenses, a few days at most, but until then they would be easy pickings. He would wait for darkness before he started his strikes against them because their sight was poor, but his was excellent under the shroud of night. If things went well he might not have to take many strikes against the location. The Prince was not likely to be one of the men on guard duty, so he would have to be patient to get his target without getting killed.
Few torches were lit that night and even fewer men were on guard. The men stank of sweat and hard work indicating the ones he saw working earlier were these same men which bode well for an attack as their strength, and senses would be diminished by a hard day of labor. The jaws of Sitha latched on the throat of a man on guard duty who had made the mistake of falling asleep cutting his life short. The lizardman left him at his post so he would have an exit if he needed it.
If the number of guards was around the number of workers there would be at least twenty men, a daunting number even if they were tired but Sitha was determined to make it work if he could. This outpost was designed for many more men and it was likely reinforcements could be on their way. He moved quickly to strike a second guard along the wall who yelled in startled surprise when he saw Sitha but it changed into a scream as the muscles of the powerful lizardman threw him over the side outside of the outpost to his death or injury as Sitha leaped into the compound.
The lizard moved to hide in shadows and waited for the cries to draw attention of the camp. He could try and find the location or try and slaughter the unarmed and unarmored men in the barracks. Both had there advantages and disadvantages and he didn’t have much time to make the choice.
