As the apple continued to glow, Jon couldn't help but try to understand the significance of this development. "Just what does this mean? Does it have something to do with what it did to Mike, Biff, and Mitch?" he asked, as it continued to glow in his hand.
It started at the school tech lab, where Mitch and some of his other AV friends were bickering about movie remakes, when suddenly Mitch wasn't interested anymore. He started to walk off, causing his friends to ask him where he was going.
"I don't know. But I'm not sticking around here," he said, puzzling his friends.
In one of the hallways where Biff was chatting with some of his teammates on the football team, one of the less popular kids walked by and Biff decided to humiliate the kid.
He tripped him, like usual, sending the kid soaring towards the floor, books and papers flying every which way. Biff and the rest of his jock buddies laughed. But then suddenly Biff stopped, puzzling his friends. What puzzled them even more was what happened next. He bent down and helped the kid up, asking him if he was okay, telling him that it was just an accident.
"Biff, dude. What are you doing?" one of the jocks asked, walking over to him.
Biff turned towards him and flinched. "Don't ... don't hurt me," he said, with a scared wimpy voice. Then he turned and ran away down the hall.
"What the hell is wrong with him?"
And as Mike was walking down the hallway, he spotted that nerdy kid Walter Smukmeyer. Normally, he wouldn't give the kid that much attention, but for some reason, Mike felt like ...
Walter turned away from his locker, only to be tripped by Mike. After falling to the floor in a heap of books and papers, he looked up at Mike with confused eyes. Mike had never picked on him before, so what had gotten into him?
"Loser," Mike said, walking away down the hall. He wondered what some of the jocks were up to. Normally, he didn't care for them, but for some reason, he felt like hanging out with them today.
At this point, Jon just stuffed the apple in his backpack and decided to head to class.
