Greg turned the key in the door of his apartment, happy to be finished work for the day. He worked in an electronics store. It was a boring job but he had finished college and it was the best he could find so far. His roommate Colin was in a similar position. They had met in college but neither had been able to get work in their chosen field so had to settle for whatever they could find. Colin worked in a nearby movie theatre. He was on the early shift today so should be home in an hour or so. Greg was looking forward to just hanging out for the evening, maybe watching a movie or playing some video games. Colin had said he'd be bringing home some weed for the pair to enjoy, as they often did.
As Greg opened the door, he heard a faint crackling sound in the sky and thought he felt a static shock but it was very mild. He walked in the door but something felt off. He had read many stories about The Randoms so knew the signs to look out for. Many people had described what felt like a very faint electrical storm right before whatever changes occurred. A small percentage of people noticed the changes but the majority of people just carried on as if everything was normal. He had been lucky enough so far to have never been effected but now that it had happened he was about to discover that he was in the minority of people who would be fully aware of the changes.
As he closed the front door the changes became obvious to him for now he was wearing.....
