"Molly? Where are you? I thought you said you were coming straight home." It was her mother. Her new mother, she had to remind herself. More and more, she felt like Melony's life was supposed to be her own, even though she knew better.
"I ... uh ... just needed to pick something up from the mall before heading home. It won't take long," Molly said.
"Molly, you know I don't like it when you go there by yourself."
"I'll be okay, Mom. Really. Now, I have to go. I'll see you later, bye." Then she hung up. She really didn't want to deal with her mother and the cloud. Dealing with the cloud was enough.
She headed further into the mall, hoping to find the cloud's trail.
