The cloud seemed to become so thick that Molly couldn't see either the moviegoers or the teens coming out of the bookstore or what was happening to them. Then the cloud became translucent again, before heading off in a new direction.
Molly just stood there, staring at the people that the cloud had affected. The moviegoers (three middle-aged women and a teenage boy and teenage girl) were all dressed like teenagers now (the boy was dressed as a girl and the girl was dressed as a boy, though). And the teens that came out of the bookstore were dressed differently too. Two boys were dressed like middle-aged women, one girl was dressed like a middle-aged woman, another girl was dressed like a teenage boy, and another boy was dressed like a teenage girl.
Both groups of people continued walking, breaking apart as they headed in different directions. As Molly watched, she noticed that the people who left the bookstore were acting like the ones who left the movie theater, and vice versa. It was strange watching the two boys acting like middle-aged women. Well, it was as strange as it was watching the middle-aged women acting like teenagers.
The cloud had switched them. Molly briefly wondered if any of them knew that they had changed, just like she knew, before continuing her pursuit of the cloud.
