Five identical Blonde bombshells bounced into the family car, well, it was a pink convertible just like Sarah's but it was currently being used by what used to be Jon's family so it sort of was the family car.
it joined the exodus of identical pink super-cars on their journey towards the beach. Jon tried to act like she was engaged with the blonde babble that Sarah/Gibsons were bombarding her with, at least, she thought, they weren't judging her, it was almost nice to feel familial approval for a change.
She was still trying to make sense of things and wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings, so, when the car pulled to a halt she was surprised to see people in Hazmat suits with military vehicles blocking the road.
Sarah had not known anything about the Stone, she hadn't known wishes could not be reversed, she hadn't known about any of the rules governing it's power, however , the one which really came back to bite her on her perfect bubble butt was it's range restriction. You see, while the lovely, sleepy little burg of Lake Point was getting turned into Sarahville, the rest of the world had begun to notice something very, very odd going on.
The Stone tries to create rationalisations for it's magic to try and hide it's existence, it is a defence protocol built into it's design, in this case the reason it had created for several hundred people all becoming identical to one another was a science experiment gone wrong, MacMillan Pharmaceuticals Research and Development Division had its main lab in Lake Point, and Richard MacMillan had used his daughter's DNA as the basis for an experiment, it just so happened that Roger Gibson, Jon's father, is the chief scientist in charge of a project to solve certain congenital defects, he had accidentally infected himself and ultimately the entire town with a retrovirus which overwrote his DNA with that of Sarah MacMillan and so we come to today, where the entire town of Lake Point has been quarantined and the Sarahs are being rounded up and taken to a Quarantine area till scientists can work out what went wrong and fix it, unfortunately all of the team involved with the project are currently more interested in the latest Teen girl fashions than the mysteries of DNA.
Jon was now stuck in a makeshift refugee camp, surrounded by very pissed off Sarahs, lots and lots of vain, self absorbed, manipulative silly teenage busty blonde cheerleaders all very annoyed because their trip to the beach got ruined and they are all stuck in this grubby little hell-hole.
She was trying very hard to avoiding thinking 'It can't get any worse' because as Gygax, God of Geeks knows, that phrase is the Harbinger of a whole Cluster-bomb of Misery.
so she sat on a bench, as her siblings bitched and whined about everything and nothing, and then her attention was caught by a Sarah walking towards her, the reason this one stood out was she looked sad, something told Jon that this was Sarah-Prime, she stood up and cautiously greeted her
" Sarah?"
She nodded, tears fell down her cheeks , Jon had never seen her like this, and being a basically decent human being he went over to give her a hug, she collapsed into Jon's slender arms, her blonde head fell forward onto Jon's equally bounteous bosom and she sobbed.
"Oh Jon, what have I do-o-o-o-o-ne?" she wailed, her face all red and blotchy from tears, Jon was slightly distracted as simultaneously all the other Sarahs began sobbing too.
"Sarah, perhaps we ought to go somewhere that The Collective can't listen in?" he said gently, Jon felt sorry for her, for the first time he saw her as a person. this Sarah was vulnerable and forlorn, however perhaps she was just trying to play him?
Sarah nodded, and holding the stone in her hand she whispered " Stone, I wish Jon and I were temporarily in a private place so we can say what I need to say without others hearing us"
There was the familiar sensation of something in their eyes and a flash and suddenly the two identical girls were in Sarah's room.
"Jon...I admit it, I was wrong and you were right, at first it was great, everyone agreed with me but I lost my parents, friends, family, even my sense of identity is fading, I found myself speaking in sync with a crowd of Sarahs today, it scared the Hell out of me, if this goes on soon we will cease being people and become some sort of weird thing, and now, now we're stuck in a quarantine camp while guys in hazmat suits try and cure us of some disease!" With a sigh she said " I release you from whatever restrictions I put upon you wanting or using the stone - take it and fix this and then take it away from me - I'm a horrible person, I don't deserve this power!!"
With that she began sobbing again. Jon reached out and took the stone - maybe it was because he was more Sarah than Jon, or maybe something else was going on but the stone was her's again.....
I'm going to branch off here, so others have an interesting point to take this story in other directions
