When nothing happened right away, Jon wondered, What happened? What did the wish do? I don't feel different, but would the wish have had to change me? Almost anything could have happened. Jon waited for a while, wondering why he didn't know what his wish had changed. He figured that since he was the wisher, the effect would take place nearby. But, just as he made the wish without thinking, he didn't think that he could wish to know what his wish had done. After all, having heard his own wish, he would recognize what had gone wrong. When nothing happened, he decided that it must be something minor, and went to bed, hoping that the next day would reveal what had happened.
As the town slept, Karyn underwent a growth spurt. Jon was in for a big suprise the next morning.
