"I had a feeling that someone was trying to get the stone from me," the other Jon said. "So I made a fake stone to see who would try to get it. I really hoped that it would be Sarah McMillan that tried to take it. I never wanted it to be you, Zoe."
"So ... where's the real stone, then?" Jon asked.
"Right here," he said, pulling the bottom of a pendant necklace he was wearing out from underneath his shirt collar. "I wanted to keep it close to me, so this seemed like the best way. And anyone who was looking for the stone, would be looking for a rock, not a necklace pendant."
The other Jon grasped the pendant, meaning to make a wish.
"Jon, wait. There's something you should know," Jon said.
"Oh? And what's that?"
Jon had already decided that he shouldn't tell the other Jon about who he really was, but it seemed like he was out of options. He'd have to risk it.
