"I ... I think you might be next," Jon said.
"Next for what?" Athena asked. "Listen, I don't have time for your games." She began to walk away.
"Wait. I know you're into the occult."
"Who told you?"
"Zoe."
"I already told you. I don't know anyone named Zoe."
"You did. Just yesterday, in fact. But your memories were changed."
"Okay, Mr. Wizard. Why would I forget someone like that?"
"Magic."
She grunted at that. "Now I know you're making fun of me. You know just because I'm a Goth, it doesn't mean ..."
"I know you know about magic. I overheard you talking to Zoe about it. Listen, I don't know how much time you have. You could wink out of existence in the next few minutes for all I know. You have to help me get Zoe and Zelda back."
Athena could see that this guy was really in trouble - over what, she wasn't sure. But he was right - she did know something about magic. And it was at least plausible what he was saying. Some spells could erase memories. But this guy didn't exactly look like the witchcraft type. So he definitely wasn't a witch or a wizard. The only other thing it could have been was that he obtained a magical artifact that he didn't use properly. It wouldn't be the first time. In her opinion, people unfamiliar with magic shouldn't use magical objects. But anyway ... she felt it was her duty to help him. If she couldn't solve his problem, then who could? And besides, she needed to know what artifact he had so she could take it away from him. Obviously, it was in the wrong hands.
"Okay, I'll help you," she finally said. "But one question. Who is Zelda again?"
