It had been two days since the revelation that Jon Gibson was now Jen Gibson. Conferring with the other cheerleaders, she found she also remembered Jon always being Jen alongside her memories of Jon always being Jon. It seemed that Jen wasn’t that remarkable until the summer before senior year in this new reality. Apparently, she was a late bloomer and went through a massive growth spurt, filling out her form. Giving him the frustratingly attractive body he now had.
During her research, she came across some rumors which she hadn’t already heard which she doubted until she was making her way back from cheerleading practice. Walking down the hallways from the locker room to her car, she heard moaning from around the corner.
“Now if you want me to continue what is the polite thing to say?” A female voice asked coquettishly. She’d thought she had heard the voice before, but never in this context and because of that, she couldn’t place it. She felt a slight pulse from the bracelet, alerting her to something being amiss.
“Pleeease.” The second voice begged. Also female. How interesting.
She wasn’t left wondering for long as she peeked around the corner. Quickly ducked back behind the wall in shock. She took a second look, quickly ducking back again, this time her face flushed. Of course, Jon, in his new body, was getting some action.
He could do so much better than Karyn though. Sarah would have said yes to any advances if she didn’t know who he was, wasn’t adamant to keep her sexuality secret, and hadn't made the vow years prior. After her grandmother’s death, she had vowed not to fall romantically for anyone at the school. She would be moving out of state for university, and anything like that would tie her down, possibly keeping her from her dreams. She had only dated Biff the last year for the boost in social status gained from dating the star football player. But they had broken it off during the summer. Biff lamented there was no passion in it. And there wasn’t. Sarah thought Biff was a terrible conversationalist, not that he was dumb. Just all his smarts were dedicated to sport, which she didn’t care much about. They did have sex of course, and she did enjoy that, but it wasn’t romantic, and Biff wanted more. She wasn't interested.
Not that it mattered. Still, it pissed Sarah off, seeing Jon in his new body with Karyn, she wasn’t exactly sure why. Any guy he could have asked, and a sizeable minority of girls would fall head over heels for her the way he looked now. But of course, he chose his best friend Karyn. He truly was an idiot.
She started walking away, she needed to find another way to her car. Thinking back, she smirked. Before, when Jon was a boy, she had a few times caught Jon engaging in typical bro talk with his fellow nerds about when he finally found a “woman” (like he had any chance at that) all the things he would do. It always royally pissed Karyn off when she found out causing him to cut back on such conversations. Before he did, however, he proclaimed himself the type to find themselves the aggressor.
Seems the tables had flipped. If she saw correctly, and she was sure she did. Jon was the one being shoved against a locker, not Karyn. A brief flash of an emotion she didn’t recognize passed through her at the thought that it was Karyn who was shoving Jon into the locker. But it was quickly put in the back of her mind. Her thoughts on the two fools hooking up weren’t directly relevant to her investigation.
She heard a loud scream of a woman climaxing, then the sounds of clothes hurriedly being shrugged on, zippers being zipped, and what sounded like Karyn admonishing Jon not keeping it down. She didn’t catch anymore as she opened a door to step outside. Idiots. Even the freshman
Something clicked in her mind while thinking about Karyn and Jon's extracurriculars, and her grandmother’s bracelet hummed in contentment as it did. How could there be rumors of two girls found having sex (later revealed to be Jen and Karyn) in the locker room after school by a freshman if Jon hadn’t been a girl until a few days ago? And Sarah wasn’t sure but something about Karyn and Jon being intimate didn’t seem quite right. Remembering a similar rumor about a boy and girl being found in the same locker room by the same freshman from before Jon’s change, made Sarah uneasy as she felt her bracelet struggling against whatever magic was trying to twist her thoughts this time.
Her thoughts had snared. And would probably stay that way until she found out more. She couldn’t help but smile, remembering a younger more innocent version of herself. Curled up in front of her grandmother’s fireplace reading a particular children’s series. W.W.N Double D? What would Nancy Drew Do?
Her thoughts were halted, and her attention drawn. Taking her hand off of the gear selector of her car she saw Jon and Karyn running across the parking lot looking quite disheveled, jumping in a car, and the screech of rubber as the car tore away. Glancing back to the school a door slammed open and an overweight bodyguard came to a stop, heaving, bent over with his hands on his knees. She twisted in her seat looking back as she put the car in drive.
For some reason, she was almost glad they got away. Didn't get caught. She quickly shoved the feeling down, filling herself with the hatred she had for the two of them, and the certainty that she would figure out whatever the FUCK was going on around here.
(Inspiration for the title comes from Season 1, Ep7. of Sense8 WWN Double D?)
(Sorry... it's a pretty shit joke... I couldn't help myself)
