As Jon was mulling over what to do, he heard a number of loud noises coming from outside. Unable to ignore the sounds, he headed back to the front doors, and peaked out one of the small windows in them. What he saw outside astounded him.
He saw a large number of guys, and a few girls, wearing letterman jackets, soccer and baseball uniforms, and a number of other sport related outfits. Jon recognized one girl who was wearing a soccer uniform as Kyla Leeson. It wasn't unusual to see her at the school this early, but it was unusual to see her in that get up. While she was not fat, she was easily winded, and was definitely not on the schools soccer team.
He noticed that all of the jocks out there seemed to be physically fighting with some other people. Jon recognized some of them. Zelda Whitfield, Sabrina Johnson, and even his own sister, Zoe. The jocks and goths out there were having a full on brawl. But, like the jock side, Jon saw a few new additions to the goth side. He couldn't make them out from where he was, especially with their strange new attire, but he was sure some of the goths who were fighting had not been goth before today.
"What is going on?" he asked himself. It was obvious that this was the fault of the stone. These two social classes may not have ever gotten along, but to be having a full on battle like this? It was too strange to right off.
Jon was about to turn and head further into the school, not particularly wanting to be pulled into the fight, when he heard a group of people walking through the halls. He looked around and saw that one of the classroom doors was open slightly. He ran over to it and quietly closed the door. He could hear the footsteps approaching the door, stopping just before the exit.
"Alright, girls." said a voice that Jon instantly recognized as Sarah McMillan. "Our esteemed jocks are out there, putting up the good fight against those gothic freaks, and it's time that we get out there and show them our support!"
There was a round of cheering when Sarah said this. "when we get out there, I want you all to hit those freaks with everything you've got. We can beat them!" she added.
Jon couldn't believe what he was hearing. She was acting like this was a full blown war. He started to become worried for his sister's safety. He mustered up his courage and took a peak out the window between the hallway and the classroom. All of the cheerleaders had their backs to him, but he was able to see that they had had additions to their group like the others had. He almost gasped as he looked over their ranks, and saw Karyn standing toward the back of the group. She, too, was dressed in a cheerleaders uniform, and was cheering about the apparently impending battle as much as the rest of them were.
"This is wrong..." Jon said to himself as he watched his best friend and the rest of the cheerleaders leave the school to join the battle outside. "I need to go get the stone and fix this."
