When Jon awoke, he sat up in bed and checked himself. Everything seemed the same. Hadn't Flarg-Nop told him that he would be changed somehow? Whatever the change was, Jon figured, checking his crotch for the third time, it wasn't physical.
Climbing out of bed, Jon figured he'd get ready for school. It was, after all, Wednesday, and no matter how many bad wishes he made, Jon figured he still had to attend classes.
Getting ready only took a few minutes, and soon Jon found himself sitting at the kitchen table devouring a bowl of Shreddies. When Zoe, Jon's sister, walked in and flopped down on the chair opposite of him with a scowl, he knew that he was in for trouble.
"What the fuck, Jon," came her morning greeting.
"Hello to you too," he tried to keep things civil.
"How many times do I have to tell you to put the seat down in the bathroom?"
Jon winced. The toilet seat argument was a staple with his sister. She pulled it out whenever she was feeling particularly bitchy and looking for something to scrap about. Having never found a way out of the fights, he resolved himself to having a bad morning, steeled himself for the coming onslaught.
"Sorry, Zoe, I guess I just..."
"Sorry isn't good enough!" she screamed, "Everything is sorry this and sorry that with you! How would you like it if I..."
Strangely, Zoe stopped her tirade. Only she didn't just stop her tirade, she stopped everything. The look of rage on her face was still there, frozen in time, but she seemed unable to move. Above her head was the word "OBSTACLE" flashing in bright red letters. Jon looked to see if there was anyone else in the room, but he and his frozen sister were alone.
The word didn't vanish as Jon stood and walked around to his sister. Instead, it rotated, making sure that it was always facing Jon. He reached up and touched the words, feeling a slight static shock when he did, and saw that his touch turned the red lettering green. Beside his sister a menu appeared with three options: ERASE, DIMINISH, and MODIFY.
