As the assistant director at the news station (Phil Newton) helped Zoe back to her desk, she was even more confused than ever. The name on the desk was Zoe Strong.
Bit by bit, she tried to recall what happened, trying to figure all this weirdness out. When she changed the channel on the TV back at her house (right before she felt herself being drawn into the TV), she noticed that the news was on. At the bottom of the screen were the names Lisa Strong and Steven Williams. And then when she found herself behind the news desk, she saw that Steven Williams guy, but not Lisa Strong. But then she noticed what she was wearing and realized that she was wearing what Lisa Strong was wearing. She figured, as strange as it sounded, that she had replaced Lisa Strong. And now that she was at Lisa's (her) desk, the name Zoe Strong confirmed it.
"Here, Zoe," Phil said, holding out a styrofoam cup. "Drink something."
"What is it?"
"Just water."
Zoe took the cup and sipped it. She looked back down at herself and frowned. She missed her old clothes. These were so ... plain.
"Just take it easy, okay?" he said, with a smile.
"Uh, yeah. Sure," she said.
Phil looked a little concerned, then turned and left the small office, closing the door behind him.
Zoe put down the cup and glanced around the room. There were actually photos of her meeting celebrities and receiving awards. She looked so happy in all of them. So ... normal.
She turned and looked at the phone sitting on the desk. I have got to get out of here and back to my old life, she thought. She was a non-conformist to the end. She picked up the phone, then called her house. She crossed her fingers that someone was there to answer.
