From what Jon could see, the TV program that Zoe was now part of was the 9 O'Clock News Hour. And Zoe was sitting behind the news desk, alongside a news anchor (Jon recalled that his name was Steven Williams). In fact, Zoe was now sitting where Lisa Strong usually sat. And now that Jon was really looking, Zoe was wearing an outfit that Lisa would usually wear when reporting the news.
"Zoe?" Jon heard a voice say, from the TV. His sister turned and looked in the direction of the voice. "Are you okay?" It was someone off-screen. It seemed that Zoe didn't just become part of the news program ... she actually replaced one of the reporters. At the bottom of the screen, Jon saw the name Zoe Strong, instead of Lisa Strong. I wonder what happened to Lisa, if Zoe took her place, Jon thought.
"What's happening? How the fuck did I get here?" Zoe asked.
Suddenly, the screen went black and a short message read:
WE ARE EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES - THE CURRENT PROGRAM WILL RETURN SHORTLY
Jon stared at the screen, wondering what to do next.
Meanwhile, at the news studio, the director briskly walked over to the news desk. "Zoe, what the hell is wrong with you?" he asked. "We're live here. You can't talk like that on the air! The network will fire your ass without another thought!"
"On the air? What are you ..." Zoe looked down at herself and saw that she was wearing a white blouse and gray skirt suit. It looked a lot like something her mother would wear to work. "What the fuck am I wearing?"
Steven Williams and the director exchanged worried glances, thinking that Zoe was having some sort of a mental breakdown.
