"Shh," Jon said, patting the hysterical girl on the head. "It's okay. Calm down and tell me what you did. Maybe I can figure out a way to fix it." He pulled away from her, looking her up and down. She was very pretty, a couple of years younger than him; could've been his cousin. He felt a warmth in his belly and a stirring lower, despite or maybe because of her obvious vulnerability.

"Well... I found your stone, and... and I didn't know what it was. I wished offhand that I could be as close to Zoe as we used to be. You remember, right?" she asked, almost pleading for some reassurance.

"Yeah. She was daddy's little girl," Jon agreed.

She nodded, smiling sadly. "So at first I was her twin. I looked just like her, Goth and all. I panicked and wished that I wasn't her twin, and I kept on wishing to look like me again but it didn't work. M-maybe the first wish wouldn't work with that one... so now I'm stuck like this. Look at me. I'm a grown man crying like a little girl, looking like fucking jailbait or something," she said, laughing bitterly.

"Yeah, you look Zoe's age," Jon said, quickly adding, "but don't worry. We'll think about it, we'll find a way to fix this. We have to think it through carefully and until then I don't want to make any stupid wishes. Making it easier for you might backfire just as much as trying to wish you back. Might. Let's think it through." He smiled reassuringly.

"Yeah..." she nodded. "Okay. Knew I could count on you, bud," she said, punching Jon on the arm and sounding absolutely nothing like his dad. She grimaced, realizing it too. "Ouch... that didn't really work out..."

Jon laughed. "No, it didn't." His smile was infectious, and quickly had her laughing too. They both had the situation weighing heavily on their minds, but laughing eased it somewhat.
