Jon, for some reason wandered into the Hobby store and gravitated towards the artists supplies, the colours and varieties of different media for expressing one's creativity fascinated him, while there and unnoticed by him one of Jon's classmates Annabel Watson spotted him and smiled, she had been friends with Karyn back in First Grade and had remained on good terms with her since then, however they had sort of drifted apart, through Karyn she also knew Jon and thought he was a nice guy so she was pleased to note that he appeared to be taking an interest in something which was a great passion in her life- art, Annabel was probably the best student in the art department, the word prodigy had even been used to describe her by the Head of department and she certainly looked the part, she wore a carefully harmonised and colour matched eclectic blend of retro/vintage clothes with her own designs , Annabel loved making her own clothes and plenty of other girls benefited from her expertise, looking at Jon's sudden interest in something he had been indifferent to previously caught her interest, could Jon be infected with GPAD? Would she have a fellow traveller, a girl with the same interests and passions she had? She approached Jon, determined to find out.
Jon meanwhile was unaware, he had a slight itch which he didn't realise was his body hair gradually shedding, right now he was looking at a book on The French Impressionists, their free and expressive style and use of colour fascinated him and his mind was filed with ideas on how he might incorporate that style into something he wanted to work on.
" So, who's your favourite?" a female voice asked him out of the blue, Jon turned to look at the girl and was immediately taken with her wild hairstyle, beautifully coordinated patterns and colours and the clothing which she had clearly made herself as it was too different to anything else. Jon had never cared a jot about such things before and for a moment he was confused as to why it suddenly mattered so much to him now.
"I'm sorry, what do you mean? he stammered
"The Impressionists, are you a fan of Seurat or Manet or perhaps Monet floats your boat, I confess I prefer what Blake did and the Fauvist movement that preceded the Impressionists , I think these guys are a little over rated but what they did was important for freeing up the way we approach art..." she stopped, waiting to see if Jon took the bait.
To her delight what followed was the most intelligent discussion of various modern art movements she had ever had with another student, what he lacked in actual knowledge he more than made up for in enthusiasm and desire to learn, he also complimented her outfit, in a rare moment of indiscretion he as good as said he wished he could carry of Annabel's style. The two spent the rest of the afternoon together, with Annabel advising Jon on what he needed for various art and craft projects , however it later became a clothes shopping trip, he seemed to forget he was still mostly male physically and bought a range of items from various Vintage and retro stores, he also picked up fabrics and dress patterns. By the time he got home with four bags full of new stuff his hair had grown significantly, taking on a reddish tint and his skin was smooth and free of hair or blemish.
