Larry Nadish sat over his keyboard, typing away frantically. Searching around the internet for various things pertaining to science fiction was how he spent most days. "After all...all of my classmates are absolute imbociles who do nothing but squander their lives at the mall." he said, attempting to justify how he spent his time.
However, in the end, he couldn't deny that he was a bit lonely. Even a self imposed exile was still exile. It was at this point that he stumbled across a page with a number of images of human-like robots and androids. He sighed.
"If only technology were to this point..." he said, staring at the images. "Then, I could just build companions as smart as me."
Larry was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't notice his computer as it began to spark. As a matter of fact, it wasn't until a bright flash filled his room that he was pulled from his thoughts. For a moment, everything ceased to exist to Larry Nadish, but sensation quickly returned.
He now found himself laying on the floor. "What on Earth just happened?" he asked as he sat up. He looked down at his hand and yelled out at what he saw. Instead of his normal, albeit pasty, skin, he saw that his arm now had a metallic sheen to it. He looked the rest of himself over, and saw that he now seemed to be made of some sort of metal. It reacted almost exactly like skin, but was more durable, at least from what he could derive from his quick test (Which involved running the edge of scissors over his arm to see what would happen.)
He looked down at his hand again and sighed. "What can I do now?" he asked. As he looked, he noticed a small hole opening in his palm, and small, metallic, spider-like things crawled out of the hole.
It was at this point that Larry's mother, Yvonne, entered the room. "Larry, what the hell happened to you?!" she screamed, looking terrified.
"Mother, please let me explain..." Larry said, raising his hand to his mother in an attempt to calm her for a moment. As he did, the spider-like creatures shot out of his hand and onto his mother, entering her body in any way they could. As soon as they had all entered her, her skin became the same type of metal as Larry's, and the whites of her eyes became black as the iris became green. Larry glanced into the mirror quickly to see if his eyes had changed too, which they had. The only difference being that his were red while his mother's were green.
"Mother? Are you alright?" Larry asked cautiously.
She looked at him, saying nothing for a moment, before responding. "This unit is functioning perfectly, Master." she said.
"M-master?" Larry asked, confused.
"Of course, Master. You have made this unit what it is." his mother said.
Larry stared at his mother, completely dumbfounded by what she was saying. He looked to the palm of his hand again, noting that the small hole was still there, and a few of the creatures were crawling out of it.
"What is going on here?" he asked, and no sooner did the words leave his lips than he suddenly had his answer. Apparently, a few days ago, a small nano bot escaped from a secret facility not far from the town, and had snuck into Larry's computer. There, it fed on the electricity and reproduced, while also downloading information into itself via the internet. Today, it had reproduced enough that it need no longer hide, and it decided to convert Larry into a host for itself. As a result, Larry now controlled an army of nanobots capable of turning people into robots, who would be completely obedient to him.
His red eyes began to glow sinisterly. "I think that this may be just what I was looking for..." he said.
