"... I had a device that could swap anything about someone with someone else. It can scan one person and then transfer any aspect of that person, either physical or mental onto another person. It will have a range of settings to cover all angles and will have an option to have anyone involved, or anyone else even, be aware of the changes."
Jon finished, thinking he had covered everything he wanted to get out.
"Wow Jon. That's actually a really good wish. You can use this to do whatever you want and xan still use the stone as a safety net if you screw things up too badly." As Karyn spoke to Jon a device that looked just like a smartphone appeared beside Jon. He picked it up and the screen lit up. Jon took a few minutes to familiarise himself with the options before he turned to Karyn and said,"Who will we test it out on? Wanna volunteer?"
Karyn said maybe they should test it out on someone unaware first to get the hang of it. Just then Jon's mom called up to him to ask him to drop something over to one of his neighbours for her. She was busy making dinner so Jon didn't mind. It could be a good way to test the new toy out.
Karyn headed down the stairs ahead of Jon and he carried the device in his hand behind her. At the bottom of the stairs, Jon's mom handed a bag to Karyn and thanked them both for being so helpful. Unnoticed by Karyn and Jon's mom, Jon quickly scanned his mother into the device. He was going to swap something between his mom and Karyn but wasn't planning on making either of them aware. As Karyn headed out the door Jon decided to swap something fairly straightforward for now. He pointed the device at Karyn and pressed the button to apply his Mom's clothing onto Karyn.
Karyn had previously been wearing her usual jeans and hoody but now she was dressed in a flowery house dress and a pair of sandals. She didn't notice the change at all and Jon was trying his best not to laugh. Karyn noticed his snickering and asked him what was so funny.
Jon finally cracked and told her that he had swapped something between her and his mom. Karyn studied herself but couldn't see anything different. She was wearing the same dress she remembered putting on that morning. Jon finally told her what he had done but Karyn found it hard to believe that she would normally dress in such unfeminine clothes as Jon described. Jon decided to reset everything back to normal. Karyn was a bit annoyed at him for changing her without permission. She told Jon it would only be fair if she could have a turn to change him and he'd have to try to figure out what she had done to him.
Jon agreed just as they arrived at the neighbours house. He handed Karyn the device and took the bag that his mom had given them to deliver. He rang the doorbell and waited.
A woman who he knew as June opened the door. She was a few years younger than his own mom and was holding her two year old daughter in her arms as hmshe greeted Jon and Karyn. Jon handed her the bag and said his mom asked him to drop it over. June thanked him and closed the door.
Jon turned back to Karyn who was looking at him curiously and grinning to herself. Jon quickly looked himself over but couldn't even guess what she might have changed. In his eyes he looked perfectly normal.
