They got to the hospital and walked into the waiting room. They met Jon's Aunt Janet, his mom's twin sister. "Guess we won't be twins anymore, huh, sis," she said.
"Not for much longer, sis," said Jon's mom. She went to the receptionist and said, "Mr. and Mrs. Madison, for the Cross-Gender Proceedure."
"All right," said the woman. "We just need you to fill out the final insurance papers, as well as the consent forms. We want to make sure that you understand that this sex change proceedure will alter you on a genetic level and will be almost impossible to reverse once its performed."
Jon's parents hugged and his mom said, "Yes, we really do want to go through with this." They both signed the necessary papers.
"Thank you," the receptionist said. "And don't worry. It takes a while to fully adjust, but you'll love it. I did when I had my sex changed."
Turning to Jon and his sister, Zoe, their mom said, "Now, be good for Aunt Janet. She'll be staying with us until your father and I get home from the hospital. I know that this change will be hard for you, but remember, regardless of what gender we are, we will always love you."
"I love you too, Mom," said Jon.
Jon's mom kissed him and said, "Just remember, in a few days, I'm going to be your father." She giggled. She and Jon's dad hugged again and followed a nurse into another section of the hospital.
After they had left, Aunt Janet said, "Its time to go home. Remember, it'll be a few days for the proceedure to take place. After that, your parents will need to learn how to use their new bodies and have a bonding period. And when they get back, remember to be patient with them and give them the support they need. Its not easy to adjust to something like this." They got into Aunt Janet's car and drove home. There was nothing to do now but wait.
