A moment later, the door opened and Jon was confronted by a woman, probably Athena's mother. He had never seen her mother before, but there was something very familiar about her.
"Who are you?" she asked.
Jon's jaw nearly dropped to his feet. That voice. It couldn't be, could it? The voice was more high-pitched, but ... it almost sounded like ... Steve "The Stud" Farber. That's why she looked familiar to him. Not only did Steve get older (like Sarah did when she became Jon's fake mother), but he also changed genders!
"What do you want?" Steve asked, getting impatient and putting his female hands on his female hips. "I don't have all day."
"Mom, that's Zoe's brother," a girl's voice said. It must have been Athena. She came into view, confirming what Jon suspected. She wasn't Athena. She was dressed like Athena, but it was someone else. It was the fake Athena.
Jon had a sinking feeling that maybe everyone in town had been swapped around, so to speak. How was he supposed to save everyone in less than seven hours? It was impossible.
