after i hit the "accept" button, i seemed to fall through a strange mist. when it cleared, i found myself standing in the middle of some courtyard. i noticed that it was the courtyard for the epic city office of law. ah, well. maybe i could find suzy faster that way. i went inside, interested by the feelings of... feeling. i mean, i'd played MMORPGs before, but this one was totally different. of course it was, because you actually were the character. i opened the door, and began talking to a NPC at a desk.

"hello sir, welcome to the epic city office of law," the NPC, a man with a funny goatee, said.

"hi. i'm looking for somebody..." i said.

"ah. this will cost you 1 gil."

i reluctantly handed over some money to the man. why were they charging me for that?

"now, state the name, avatar name, and account number if you know it, of the player you are looking for."

"Suzie LaTrek, avatar name killer suzy, account number 123303445," i said.

"hold on..." the NPC consulted a crystal ball. God, that's dorky, i thought. why can't they just have some modern technology like computers??

while i thought, i was interupted. "there was an error with processing your request."

"umm... can't i retry?" i said.

"ok, that will be 1 gil."

"WHAT?!?!?! i don't get a refund for the previous time, or a retry, or something like that?"

"i'm sorry sir, i am not programmed to answer such a question."

i slapped my head in disappointment. this game was becoming such a letdown. i suddenly felt cheated out of my money, both real and virtual.
