Kim McHenry stretched, sweaty, shaky, but happy. Two kids had done some unpleasant things to her once-stellar body, but she had kicked her rear for the last three months, and the results were really starting to show. Those high-intensity workout DVDs were expensive, and kinda silly at first, but she was almost back in her pre-first-maternity clothes.
Which meant a new shopping trip was in the offing!
She relaxed, pouring a glass of diet iced tea and mopping her brow, moving her thick mane of sweaty brown hair to one side. Mikey (Jr.) was taking his nap and the baby was also down, giving her time to just breathe and catch up on some chores. Sipping on the tea, she sat down with her tablet and started working on the week's grocery list; her errand list; and Mikey (Sr.)'s honey-do list.
There was something she wanted on that honey-do list, but she wasn't about to write it down. She'd run it by Mike when he got home, and if the kids were occupied, maybe he could ... see to it then.
Kim grinned. Four years of marriage and they were still pawing all over each other. The downside to that, of course, is that baby number three became that much more likely.
Ah, well. A worry for another day.
Still sipping on her iced tea, Kim pulled up a page for some of the nicer department stores, idly planning the expansion of her wardrobe. Mike would grumble, but she'd make doe eyes, point out how hard she'd worked to get back into shape, and he'd agree to whatever she asked.
Another grin.
She was toying with whether to go grab some yogurt and an apple or go shower when the door bell rang. She wasn't dressed for a night on the town, but Kim judged herself presentable enough to open the door.
As she opened the door, she took in a sight: A beautiful young woman, blonde, with a bust even bigger than Kim's (that was saying something), with a look of hopeful expectation. She was holding some sort of odd wire-frame box with an odd-looking stone in it.
The woman looked down at the box, then at Kim, then back to the box, then back to Kim. "JON! It's you!" she cried, lunging forward to hug the slightly older woman.
