Imagine Jon's relief when he found the stone sitting in the top drawer of the nightstand. He clutched it with determination. "Time to end this," he said to himself.
"I wish that my mom, my sister, and me all returned to our original ages."
He waited and waited, but nothing happened. Was it broken? "I wish I was holding ten dollars." The stone glowed and suddenly he had ten one-dollar bills in his hand. Nope, not broken. But for some reason, his wish to return them to their original ages didn't work.
"I wish to know why the wish to return my mom, my sister, and me to our original ages didn't work." The stone glowed and he got his answer.
Apparently, the age swap chain (as it was called) couldn't be magically stopped or reversed. The wish was a contradiction of the wish he made for something "interesting" to happen.
"I wish to know how this age swap chain works." The stone fortunately glowed and Jon got his answer. His eyes went wide as he discovered that he was stuck as a 37-year old man. He would age normally from now on, but he could never change back to a teenager again. According to the stone, he couldn't even wish to be a teenager again. Also according to the stone, his mom couldn't magically change from her current age of fourteen. But Zoe ...
Zoe would swap with the next person she touched.
Jon put the stone in his pocket, then rushed out of the bedroom and into the hallway. He had to stop Zoe from touching anyone.
