Jon was breathing heavily. Were all his precautions useless? He didn't test them because he was too impatient, and now he regretted it greatly. "Ok! Let's not panic!" Jon said, panicking. "Maybe the stone can grant other wishes. Maybe it's just this wish it can't grant for some reason..."

Karyn didn't look much calmer, looking at the note Jon had made for the reason it didn't work. "Do you remember exactly what you said in your wish to confirm wishes?"

"I'm not sure..." Jon forced himself to calm down and think "I think it was something like I wish this stone would only grant a wish if I confirm that it's a wish... Or something like that. But it worked for my wish to be in a video game!" Jon paused a few seconds before realizing. "Wait, no! I said I had to confirm verbally. You think that's it?"

"I don't know... Maybe it needs to be your voice directly... And it doesn't work because it comes from my speakers now?" Karyn proposed, and Jon's face went pale as he shook his head.

"Make a small wish, anything. We have to make sure!" Jon pressed Karyn.

She looked around her room for ideas on what to wish for before looking down at herself and raising a hand for Jon to see. "I wish... my nails were painted blue."

"I confirm this is a wish!" Jon repeated once again while focusing on her unadorned nails, but they didn't change even ten seconds after the wish. "Fuck! What do I do now!? I can't be stuck here forever!"

"Calm down, Jon! It's not over yet! The way out you wished should still be there, we just need to find it." Karyn tried reassuring Jon.

"And how?!" Jon almost screamed at her, still panicking. "There's nothing here! It's just a big white nothing here! How is that even a game, and i'm supposed to enjoy this?!"

"Well... Maybe if I click on New Game, it'll get better?" Karyn proposed hesitantly.

That made Jon pause a moment. "What?" He looked around for a bit, still being careful not to expose himself to Karyn. After a few seconds or seeing nothing, he was gonna ask Karyn until he looked up. "What the fuck?" Above his head were giant letters floating. It was hard for Jon to make out what was written from this angle, the text clearly meant for Karyn, but he could guess these were the standard options in a video game menu. "How did I not notice this before?"

"You thought this was the game?"

"Well, no... I don't know..." Jon said, having calmed down a little. "I wasn't thinking about it, just how to get out... Do you know what sort of game it is?"

"No idea..." Karyn shrugged. "I don't really play video game all that much, and the box isn't really helpful." She said, showing it to him once more for emphasis.

"There's nothing written on the back?"

"Nope!" She spun the box to show him. "Just the back of your head."

"That's dumb." Jon simply replied. "So I guess we'll have to go in blind..." Jon tried not to show it but he was a little scared.

"It can't be too bad. You wished for a game you would enjoy, remember?" Karyn tried to reassure him before adding with a smile. " You might even want to stay in once we find a way out."

Jon laughed a little. "I doubt it, but it'd be great if I actually enjoyed the experience."

"What game do you like?" Karyn suddenly asked. "It might give us an idea on what's coming."

Jon thought a little. "Well, I play a lot of RPG, some management game and strategy game, and I played the sims quite a bit."

"I won't pretend I understood everything, but I've heard of the sims!" Karyn smiled and Jon laughed.

"Well, I'll explain to you if this game is anything like those." His smile fell a little. "I guess we'll have to go now..."

"Don't worry. It'll be fine." Karyn reassured him. "Let's go?" She asked him.

Jon took a deep breath. "Let's go..." he confirmed, closing his eyes in apprehension. Karyn looked at him a few seconds and finally clicked on New Game.
