"Well, I guess it would be cool if Sarah McMillan and Nadine Ferguson were my sisters and maybe Rose Williams was my mother." Rose was a 50-something English teacher at the high school who despised Zoe and her friends, and the feeling was mutual. Sarah was the head cheerleader and a total bitch. And Nadine was an uptight and overly-conservative Baptist girl. Of all the people in town, Zoe would love for them to be the ones woken up at 6 AM. A little revenge wasn't a bad thing, was it?
The man punched a bunch of buttons on the machine as Zoe talked, then when she was done, he pulled a lever on the side of the device.
Smiling, he said "Welcome to your new family."
"Huh?" Zoe asked. There was a bright flash of light, then the man was gone. "Weird," she muttered, then closed the door and headed back to the bathroom. When she was done, she went back to bed, putting the strange man and his device behind her. She just wanted some sleep.
