The alarm clock rang out, waking Jon. As he stretched, though, he realized that his alarm clock ring sounded different than usual. He turned to see why and that's when he realized that it wasn't his alarm clock. "What the hell?" Then he looked around the room and realized that this wasn't his room either. Somehow, he had woken up in someone else's bedroom. How he got here, he had no idea.
Suddenly, he remembered that wish he made. He had a sinking feeling that maybe this was the result of it. But could this be considered "interesting"? He wasn't sure.
He got out of the bed and took a closer look at the bedroom. All the walls were black, as were the curtains and most of the furniture. In fact, it was quite a lot like the bedroom belonging to his sister Zoe. There was a bookshelf with a bunch of old arcane books and other gothic memorabilia. And there on the top shelf was a photo. He looked closely at it and saw that it was of himself and Zoe. Except ... he was wearing one of those black gothic dresses that he had seen Zoe's friend Athena wear.
"Wait a minute," he said aloud, taking a look around the room again. "Is this Athena's room? Did I ... switch places with her somehow?"
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Jon, are you up yet?" It was a woman's voice. But it certainly wasn't his mother's voice. It must have been Athena's mother. But she referred to him as Jon, not Athena. Yes, he was still clearly himself, despite (now that he noticed it) wearing a girl's gown. But if he was apparently living a girl's life, why would his "mother" be calling him "Jon", a boy's name?
