Well, she thought everything was normal until she looked down at herself. Her eyes went wide, as her mind tried to make sense of what she saw. At first, she couldn't quite wrap her mind around it, but apparently her stupid wish from the day before caused her to become a boy!
She leapt up from her bed and ran to the mirror. The person looking back was an average-looking blond-haired teenage boy. This must have been what her wish did. It changed her into a boy!
Sarah turned and looked around the room, now noticing that there were, in fact, some differences. But they were small details that she could easily miss after one quick survey.
She spotted a wallet sitting on top of the desk and grabbed it. After opening it, she read the name on the driver's license: SETH RICHARD GIBSON. The picture matched the boy she saw in the mirror. Sarah remembered her original name. It was Sarah Rachel McMillan. Or ... was it Jon Alan Gibson? Why would she suddenly think that her name was Jon? That's a boy's name. She's a girl. She was always a girl. Wasn't she? Of course, right now she wasn't a girl, but before now ... she was so confused. She had this nagging feeling that there was more going on than just a gender change.
Sarah's thoughts turned towards the stone. She received it as an inheritance after her grandfather died. But wait ... wasn't her grandfather still alive? He was an investment banker in New York. No ... he was an archeologist. She grabbed her head as she finally realized what must have been wrong. She had two sets of memories. One set belonged to her and the other set belonged to Jon. She knew Jon. He was that loser from school that hung out with that tomboy girl Karyn. She thought fondly of Karyn. They had been friends since ...
No, she was never friends with Karyn! That girl was so below her on the social ladder, she wouldn't be caught dead talking to her. She grabbed her head again, trying to stop all of these conflicting memories. It was like she was two people. Sarah and Jon in one body - a male body.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Seth, time to get up for school," a woman's voice spoke.
The voice sounded kind of familiar, but Sarah couldn't quite place it. It definitely was not the voice of Jon's mother though. Accessing Jon's memories, she knew that much. But who else could it be? She was acting like Jon's mother. Could it be that Jon's vague wish affected more than just Sarah and himself? Maybe Jon's mother had merged with someone, just like when Sarah had apparently merged with Jon.
Sarah (or rather Seth, as she now thought of herself - since she was now completely male, she started thinking of herself as a "he") left the bedroom to pursue the woman who wasn't exactly Jon's mother.
