"Hmm," Jon mused to himself. If felt good to refer to himself as a 'he' again. His first instinct was to destroy it, but that wouldn't do. It was a supernatural thing; he couldn't just get rid of it.
"Why don't I keep it with me?" Gary said.
Jon looked at him skeptically. "And give you complete power over me? Again?"
Gary held up his hands defensively. "Hey, I changed you back. You have to give me some trust for that. Besides, if you keep it with you, somebody else might accidently change you. This way, I'll be able to watch over it, and you won't have to worry about every little thing people say around you."
Jon considered it. True, if he kept it in his room, he would have to worry about every time his mom would talk to him there. If he hid it somewhere outside, he would always be paranoid someone would find it and say careless things. Gary did change him back, so he did warrant some trust.
"Okay, fine," Jon said. "But no funny business, especially without me."
"I promise."
