The rest of the day went by in a flash. Neither Catherine or Gary really knew what it was like to date someone, so they did what they usually did, play video games, play pool, and watch movies. Granted, this time there was a lot more physical contact and cuddling. Lots of cuddling.
Catherine lay against Gary's body, his arms wrapped around her body just under her breasts. Gary still treated her as fragile, but he was getting better. They movie had ended half an hour before, but neither of them wanted to move. They lay there in silence, calmly enjoying each other's company. Catherine felt at peace.
Then, her phone buzzed from a text. She glanced at it; it was from her mom: "Jon, what time are you coming home? Want me to hold dinner?"
Jon? Why did that name sound familiar? "Oh crap," Catherine said showing the text to Gary. He didn't see the problem at first, but soon his eyes widened.
"They still remember the old you. That means . . ." Gary trailed off.
Catherine finished. "That I have to go back to being a guy." That sounded weird to her, despite being a guy a couple hours before. She felt a sad emptiness inside. Would this count as dying? She felt tears well up in her eyes, but fought them back.
"I think I've got a way," Gary said. "Do you trust me?"
"Always," Catherine said, holding him tightly.
Gary took a deep breath and said, "You have the ability to freely change your attributes between the way you are now and the way you were before as Jon."
