Catherine sat down on the floor and held her knees. Maybe this would all go away if she could wait it out.
"Um, excuse me," a voice said over her. Catherine flinched; she wiped her eyes the best she could, but knew they were still red. She looked up and saw two girls standing over her. They were cute, but also somewhat plain. Normal was the best way to explain them. Catherine was relieved they were girl, else she didn't know how her body would react.
"Yes?" Catherine responded.
"We couldn't help but notice that you looked really down, and we thought you could use some company," the first girl said.
"I, uh, just want to be . . ." Suddenly, the memories flooded back to her; the intense feelings she felt followed by the immaterial withdraw left her emotionally unstable. Tears welled up again in her eyes.
The second girl patted her on the shoulder. "Boy problems?" Catherine paused, then nodded. How ironic. "I've got the perfect cure then," she continued. "Come with us for a moment." Did girls have a secret medicine for this?
Catherine had no idea how to handle these feelings, so she decided to trust these girls. She nodded and they helped her stand up.
"My name is Gina," the first girl said. "And this is Kelsey. Before we go, you might want to make yourself presentable."
Catherine looked down; her shirt was still unbuttoned. She blushed furiously as she fixed it. "Sorry about that; don't ask. My name is Catherine."
"Okay, Cat," Kalsey said, putting her arm over her shoulder. "Let's get you feeling better." Being with company was already helping.
